Is there a better way than to enjoy the warm months with a braai withfriends? The Magic Mountain team used their annual summer marketing trip to Europe as the perfect opportunity to show how our events division does it South African style.

Sabina and Mark visited Frankfurt, Munich, and Hamburg, inviting old and new clients, friends and family to gather around the fire. Zanzi Afrika provided native delicacies in Frankfurt whereas in Munich photographer Georg Thoma opened the roof of his Studio C2 as the perfect braai location. In Hamburg Magic Mountain hosted an entertaining afternoon at 711 Rent thanks to Irma and Andreas Wendler.

Braai master Mark served original Boerewors rolls with Mrs Ball’s Chutney to photographers, art buyer, agents, and editors. Sabina and her daughter, Eugenie, ensured that the glasses were never empty and offered South African wine and Savanna cider throughout the afternoon. Though most agreed that the German summer was a bit gloomy, everyone left in high spirits with gift bags of braai spices.

Magic Marketing Indaba 2011

White, silvery and conveniently located next to the coffee bar it could be seen from far – the Magic Mountain Events stand at the Marketing Indaba 2011.

On May 19 and 20 Sabine Jakob, Director of MME, and her team lined up behind their little counter sporting super-magic t-shirts and a big smile to welcome the visitors. Not only they made people stop in their tracks, but also a half dressed Tshepo who was being body painted for the occasion.

He and Aamirah caused quite a stir in the hall and quickly more and more people were asking MME: “Are you the ones with the naked people?” And “It’s cold in here, are they getting any whiskey?” No, no whiskey, but hot chocolate.

Word had it that the conversation did not just stay in the hall, but also made its way upstairs to the conference where the ‘naked people’ from Magic Mountain Events were discussed as a marketing tool.

Whether the experts approved or not for Magic Mountain Events the Indaba was huge success.

Annika and Mark attended workshops about the ‘Magic of Marketing’ and with the Google team from Sweden and SA, learning lots about online ads and successful promotions. Sabine met with existing clients and introduced new ones to the Magic Mountain services.

Friday evening the team celebrated a successful Indaba attendance over wine and pizza at Col’Cacchio.
